Dr. Chughtai

Veterinarian, Medical Director

Hello and Welcome! My name is Dr. Chughtai, I am the Medical Director and practicing Veterinarian here at American Veterinary Hospital. Practicing veterinary medicine since 1981, I completed my Masters in Soft Tissue Surgery in 1987. As my experience grew I wanted to expand into my community and in 1992 I started practicing in Franklin, WI. Through hard work and connections with some amazing pet owners, I won America’s Top Veterinarian Award in 2006! I proudly display my plaque in our reception area.

My favorite part about veterinary medicine is getting to know all of my clients, as well as their pets! Building relationships with owners is what, I believe makes a great veterinarian.

When I’m not at the practice I enjoy spending time with my family and out on the golf course. I have two rescues cats, Carlos and Sanchez who reside at the practice and bring great peace at the end of a busy day.

I look forward to helping build our community and practice the best pet health care possible for my patients!

This allows me to give my clients the best possible treatment options available to dateIt is important to be transparent with our clients and involve them in the decision-making process regarding their pet’s care. I believe communication is a key component in making the best decisions for your pet.

I am
also an active member in several veterinary associations, including The Milwaukee Veterinary Medical Association, The Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association.  These associations hold the Standard of Care just as high as I do.

In my spare time away from work, I enjoy running in marathons and spending time with my wife. Together we have four beautiful children, a dog named Kavi and a cat named Berlioz!

I look forward to making connections with each of you and providing your pets with the best care possible for years to come.

I consider it a privilege to be able to work with you and your pets from their very first exam into their senior years.

Office Manager, Media Manager

Hey There! My name is Carie and I joined the PAW-mazing team here at American Veterinary Hospital in September 2018.  With almost 20 years of experience in the field I was able to quickly put my knowledge to great use and thrive with the team!   While I enjoy assisting in surgery, seeing our patients and clients is the highlight of my day!  I spend many hours at the front desk chatting with owners and  receiving lots of love from our patients.

My background in marketing has given me to opportunity to also become AVH’s Media Manager, allowing me to connect with our clients on a whole new level.

When I’m not at work I enjoy spending time with my fiancée and being a mother to 4 amazing children. I am a totally sports mom (GO Clarke University Pride!)  and love to craft.  Our 4 legged family members consist of a Staffordshire Terrier named Dejah, a Miniature Pinscher named Domo and 2 kitties named Tweak & Waka!
I look forward to developing relationships with each of patients as well as their humans!

Veterinary Assistant

Boy does time fly!
I recently joined the AVH family in March of 2021 and must say I feel like I’m home! Growing up animals were always a part of my lifestyle and I knew going forward working with them is exactly what I wanted to do. Here I am 6 years later and I’m excited to still be active in this rewarding career. When I’m not at the practice caring for our patients I enjoy being a mom to my 2 boys and rooting on our home team, the Brewers! My 4 dogs and 5 cats keep me on my toes. Needless to say there is never a dull moment at my house.
I look forward to working with our patients and growing within Vet Med.

Working with animals has always been a passion of mine and when presented the opportunity to work here at AVH, I jumped at the chance! I officially started as a receptionist in December of 2020 and have enjoyed every moment. Having worked in customer service for many years, I knew my skills would fit perfectly at the practice. When not greeting clients at the front desk I am busy at home working on Master’s Degree via online schooling. Although those hours are often long, my 3 furry felines; Dorito, Mowgli and Baloo keep me in great company. I look forward to getting to know all our clients and patients!

Receptionist, K9 foster, Mom… I do it all!
I was excited to join the team here at AVH in March of this year! (2021)
By starting out volunteering and fostering at Woof Gang Rescue I was able to gain some experience and insight into the “Life of a Dog” and totally fell in love with the hustle of it all. During the days I enjoy reception at the practice and by night I’m a mom and I foster for the rescue.
I look forward to meeting our clients and welcoming them to the practice.

Sanchez & Carlos

This is Sanchez and Carlos, when Dr. Chughtai rescued them in 2009 they were very sick, and were going to be euthanized. Dr. Chughtai stepped in and rescued them. Since being rescued from MADACC in 2009 they have been so spoiled! And they love their home here at American Veterinary Hospital, where there are no limits and they are welcome to roam free! Sanchez our black cat was diagnosed with Osteonecrosis in 2011 and unfortunately had to have his back right leg amputated. Luckily Dr. Chughtai caught it soon enough and only had to amputate one of his legs. But don’t let that fool you he gets along very well at the clinic and loves all the extra attention that he gets because of it! Carlos, our orange kitty we adopted also known as our greeter loves greeting all sorts of pets coming through our doors, and is very social with our clients. Somehow he knows when they need something to get their mind off of a vet visit because he jumps right into their lap and screams for attention. He’s truly our little therapist!
