We understand that at some point your work schedule, or daily routine won’t allow you to stay for your pets physical examination, and diagnostics. We offer a convenient drop off policy that allows you to drop off your pet during the day and pick up at your earliest convenience. Note* A scheduled pick up time may be recommended to meet with Dr. Chughtai and go over results and treatment plans.
Annual Physical Examinations & Vaccinations:
A thorough physical Examination performed by one of our Veterinarians annually is important in ensuring your pet is the healthiest he/she can possibly be. An annual Wellness Exam performed at each appointment prior to vaccinations. American Veterinary Hospital also offers convenient drop off times throughout the day, to ensure if our schedule doesn’t meet you’re your pet can still get the care they need.
Full dental cleanings are done Monday through Friday. If a patient is in need for an extraction our staff and Veterinarian is capable of doing this during the dental procedure. Dental cleanings are performed under anesthesia with a catheter and IV fluids in order to provide the most thorough cleaning. We strongly recommend pre-anesthetic blood work prior to all procedures. Drop off times are between 8-9am unless otherwise told by one of our staff members.
Diagnostic and Lab Procedures:
American Veterinary Hospital has in house machines to run same day blood work. Urine and Fecal analysis, Heartworm tests are run in house as well for fast diagnostics. Radiographs, ECG are also added to our in-house equipment for fast diagnostics. We also provide, Diabetic care, Cushing’s disease care, Thyroid care, Allergy tests, Phenobarb levels, Chemistry Panel, CBC (complete blood count). This non-invasive imaging allows internal body structures to be seen by recording reflections/echoes of ultrasonic waves. Via ultrasound we are able to do a complete examination of the internal organs, evaluate heart conditions, identify changes, cysts, tumors and pregnancy. Services are by appointment and payment is required at the time of scheduling. Please call our office for more details!
A cardiac ultrasound is a sonogram of the heart. This painless and non-invasive procedure does not involve radiation making it a safer option for your pet. Through a sonogram we are able to diagnose cardiac diseases, visualize the heart and it’s structure as well as recognize any abnormalities in blood flow. Services are by appointment and payment is required at the time of scheduling. Please call our office for more details!
Pet Surgery Services:
Dr. Chughtai offers pet Spay and Neuters, Dental cleanings/Polish with extractions if needed, Growth Removals, Orthopedic procedures, Feline Declaws, Dewclaw Removal, Hematoma repair, Biopsy’s, and others depending on your pet’s needs. Pet Surgeries are performed Monday-Friday depending on your schedule preference we can usually get a patient in with-in the week. Please understand during certain seasons this may not be possible. Please call for details or any questions you may have about surgeries we may offer for your pet.
Staff is trained in many aspects of emergency situations, we advise contacting the clinic for an emergency situation as soon as possible at 1-414-304-1818 to speak with one of the staff members. Here are some of the many emergencies we see at American Veterinary Hospital:

We offer Hospitalization for our patients who require our full attention throughout the day. This includes sick patients who require medication, observation, diagnostic care or fluids for specific illness. This also includes patients who require an overnight stay after a Spay, Neuter, Orthopedic procedure, or Declaw. Although there will often NOT be medical staff at American Veterinary Hospital after 6:00 PM, an overnight stay is required for certain surgical procedures to ensure your pet is safe and confined throughout the night.
Health Certificates for Travel:
Dr. Chughtai is able to provide your pet with a Health Certificate that is required by most airlines for travel. Health Certificates are required within 10 days of travel. International travel certificates require different requirements depending on the location of travel. If you are planning to travel with your pet, please call for any details on what exactly may be required.
American Veterinary Hospital has a fully-stocked pharmacy to ensure your pet is getting the medications he/she needs. From Pain management medication, Thyroid medication, Antibiotics, Deworming medication, to Heartworm prevention and Flea/Tick prevention medication. We strongly recommend not ordering your pets medications of an online pharmacy. By law, in order for a Veterinarian to prescribe and dispense medications for your pet, he/she must be up to date on his/her Annual Wellness Exam.
Dr. Chughtai is available anytime during business hours to humanely euthanize your pet in a compassionate and professional manner. We understand that deciding to euthanize your pet may be one of the hardest decisions you have to make and we are here for you if you have any questions when it comes to your pet’s quality of life. Because euthanasia is often something you cannot plan or prepare for, feel free to call anytime during our business hours and one of our staff members are more than willing to speak with you regarding your decision to euthanize your pet. If you experience a life-threatening emergency or feel it is time to humanely euthanize your beloved pet and cannot come into the clinic, we offer in-home euthanasia services for your convenience. Payment is expected when services are rendered. In order to focus on our patients’ needs, customer service and minimizing costs, we do not bill or hold checks.
